Washington (ECN) Barack Obama made history last night as he was elected the first African American president of the United States.

The President-elect took to the stage and announced that “change has come.”

Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey were among the estimated 240 thousand supporters gathered in Chicago’s Grant Park as Obama made his acceptance speech.

Oprah told reporters “this has been the greatest experience of my lifetime.” 

Obama will oficially become the 44nd president of the United States on January 20th of 2009.
