New York (ECN) - Catherine Hardwicke says she passed on directing of New Moon because of deadlines and budget constraints.

The director made the revelation to Entertainment Weekly while discussing Twilight: Director’s Notebook, a forthcoming release inspired by the on-set journal she kept while shooting the first film.

Despite offering her a ton of money, Hardwicke turned the offer down.

New Moon is currently shooting under the direction of Chris Weitz. Twilight: Director’s Notebook hits shelves March 17.
