New York (ECN) - It is said that Google will cut another 200 jobs globally on Thursday, March 26,2009 due to the economic recession.

The cut will be Google’s second major cut of jobs since the recession. The first cut took place in January in which 100 recruiting positions and six products and another 40 in February when it closed down its radio-programming business. The cut is centered on the Sales and Marketing branch.

Google's senior vice president Omid Kordestani says that the company tried to look for other options but the cut seems to be the best choice.

The cut would restructure the company’s organization and ultimately bring about efficiency.

Kordestani believes that Google has some overlapping organizations which complicates decision making and therefore, make processes redundant and slower.

Another reason he says is that due to the over-investment in areas that will expand base upon the economy's growth. Since those areas are not doing well due to the lack of demand Google wants to cut back costs on what it sees as unnecessary areas.
