Dennis Gabor is a legendary Nobel Prize recipient for the field of Physics. He won in 1971 for developing a type of holograph technology that uses a lens free, 3D photography system. His love of the field of physics started when he was in his mid teens. He loved the complexity of the field and decided to make it his life’s passion. He was an electrical engineer that moved to Germany as a teen and became an engineer for Siemens and Halske in the late 1920′s.
In 1933, seeing what was happening in German, he relocated to the UK and started working for the Thomas Houston Company. Later, he became a citizen of England. He also spent time at various colleges in the US.
His many idea’s and patents included research on TV, tangible optics, ideas of communication, and oscilloscopes. Over his lifetime, he developed over 100 registered patents. He passed away in London in 1979 at the age of 78.
Google Doodle paid honor and tribute to the inventor over the weekend to celebrate his 110th birthday. Google placed a 3D holograph on it’s main page with a 3D seven sided cub with Google typed in a 3D font.
