The newest purchase of eBay Inc. has announced that Internet Phone calling is entering a new era.

Calls To Europe and 33 Other Locations Featured

San Jose, California (eCanadaNow) - The newest purchase of eBay Inc. has announced that Internet Phone calling is entering a new era.

Skype, the voice over Internet phone company has declared that it will be possible for one low rate to call 34 International countries, all for the same low rate of $2.95 dollars a month.

eBay acquired Skype in a bid last year but appeared to not be able to capitalize on the purchase. This new announcement signals that eBay has not given up on their newest company prize.

The new plan would allow unlimited Internet calling overseas and internationally to 34 different countries.

Skype features a SkypeOut plan allowing its users to call phone numbers of customers without Internet access or computers. Skype has petitioned the FCC for the usage rights to make these types of unrestricted international calls.

The principal of Internet openness is at stake, according to officials with Skype.  They maintain their request is consistent with the Internet neutrality and openness doctrine which seems to be the way that government is leaning.

Skype was released in 2003, but later was purchased by eBay for over a billion dollars. The Skype process and technology is promising in many ways but has not been fully utilized as visualized originally by creators Janus Friis or Niklas Zennstrom.
