Businesses can get Windows 7 in September; despite discouraging survey figures: Nearly 6 out of 10 companies are not thinking about implementing the latest Microsoft’s operating systems: Windows 7 which is set to hit the mainstream in October according to a recent survey.

Over 1,100 IT administrators took the special survey and nearly 60% replied that they will not be deploying Windows 7 into their line of work. The survey was taken by a company that produces software for Microsoft’s Windows OS (ScriptLogic). Some of the reasons for this decision included worries over hardware support, deployment, migration and other user settings.

Microsoft probably doesn’t see this survey as encouraging or what they expected. The company has already reported a slow acceptance and usage for the new Microsoft Vista OS, which in part can be blamed on compatibility concerns related to the applications. Many large corporations decided to wait until Microsoft issued a service package.

By the year 2010, the IDC estimated Windows 7 to be half of the client OSes that Microsoft will ship for. This would result in over 58 million copies. Vista is expected to not do as well, with only an estimated 18 million companies being determined to hit in the year 2010.

Some experts believe the current recession and economic downfall has to do with the estimated figures. According to survey, when asked how the companies are saving money, they responded that they delayed purchases or skipped upgrades (which are how most software and operating systems make the bulk of their money). Over 80% replied the current recession has halted them from investing in new data-centers and other management software.
