Cape Breton Island (eCanadaNow) -  A young man complaining of chest pain was swiftly taken by helicopter to the hospital at Cape Breton early Thursday morning. The man was airlifted by a Canadian Forces Military Helicopter, and rushed to Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

The MV Caribou is stuck temporarily in the heavy ice near Cape Breton Island, and when the passenger complained of chest pain a medical helicopter was rushed to the scene.

The attack appears to be related to anxiety, and at last word the passenger, who was not identified, appears in good condition. A Cormorant military helicopter from the CFB Greenwood N.S. base was dispatched to the scene, and transported the man from the motor vessel to the hospital.

“We got to the scene as fast as we could including a radar approach to the ship, and transported the young man as soon as we could,” said Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Thibault.  Colonel Thibault is the Commander of the 413 Squadron at the CFB base.

The Motor Vessel Caribou is carrying about 170 passengers and is currently stuck in the pack ice, just outside Sydney N.S.  An icebreaker is on its way to the scene to help free the ship, and assist it to port in North Sydney, N.S.
