Video of Blue Honda Civic Seized By Police May Be Key in Disappearance of Victoria (Tori) Stafford
The owner/operator of a gas station on Norwich Avenue believes that the video clip he reviewed revealed his parking lot, a five-minute drive from Victoria (Tori) Stafford's school. He says the time code shows the footage taken was within minutes of Stafford's abduction. Jigar Patel, was interviewed the night of Stafford's disappearance and returned the next day to copy the footage. The video of the blue car that is believed to be connected to the April 8 abduction of the little girl was released last week by Oxford Community Police and was taken from Woodstock gas-station footage that investigators had seized within hours of the abduction.
Investigators have stated that although they have had the footage in their hands since the night of the little girl's disappearance, there was no way to know what they were looking at. Patel believes that the car's driver was in his lot to get gas, but Patel has no memory of that afternoon. Patel says that he wants to help the police in the case and has no reason to say no.
Constable Laurie-Anne Maitland from the Oxford Community Police Department said that investigators discovered the blue car may play a key role last week when two suspects were arrested. She stated that there was no suspect vehicle information on April 8, and that was why an Amber Alert was not called. Prior to the arrest of the suspect, "it wasn't part of the information," she said.
