The Curious Case Of The Toxic Butt

Two Florida women became critically ill after allegedly receiving 20-40 injections of a homemade buttocks-enhancing concoction in a time frame spanning less than one-and-a-half hours.

Los Angeles (ECN) - Two Florida women became critically ill after allegedly receiving 20-40 injections of a homemade buttocks-enhancing concoction in a time frame spanning less than one-and-a-half hours. Andrea Lee, 30, and Zakiya Teagle, 33, received the injections last month from Sharhonda Lindsay, 32, of Tampa, Florida.

Within hours, both women were rushed to the hospital and are now in critical condition. Lee is struggling to survive complete kidney failure and Teagle is in critical condition with liver failure.

Lindsay turned herself in to the Hillsborough County Sheriff Department after a warrant for her arrest was issued, and was charged Wednesday with two felony counts of practicing medicine without a license. She has been released on $5,000 bond.

The victims believed they were injected with Hydrogel, which is a mixture of silicone and saline that would enhance their buttocks. One of the women paid Lindsay $500 for 40 injections, the other paid $250 for 20 injections.

It is believed that Lindsay has performed these cosmetic procedures on additional women in her private home.

Although once used to cosmetically enhance breasts and facial features, injecting silicone into soft tissues is now illegal in the United States.
