Washington (ECN) - A U.S. federal appeal court ruled on Monday in favor of CBS, stating that they are not liable for the exposure of Janet Jackson's breast in 2004 at the NFL SuperBowl halftime show.
In 2004, there was a "wardrobe malfunction" during the halftime show, causing her breast to go on public display.
The network was handed a $550,000 indecency fine, but will not have to pay a thing.
The decision was not received well by the FCC, as they wanted to hit CBS hard for the issue.
The incident triggered many public complaints from groups, including the Parents Television Council, which condemned the ruling.
Since then, broadcasters now air live events on a delay so censors can block out things of this nature.
