Hollywood Writers, Producers, End Contract Talks

The Hollywood writers and producers have broke off contract talks as of Wednesday night which will allow the Writers Guild of America's contract to expire at midnight without any new deal in sight, leading to what many think will be a strikeHollywood (eCanadaNow) - The Hollywood writers and producers have broke off contract talks as of Wednesday night which will allow the Writers Guild of America's contract to expire at midnight without any new deal in sight, leading to what many think will be a strike.

It was just a week or so ago that the members of the Writers Guild of America authorized the first strike since 1988 if it was needed and no contract was reached.

It seems that a strike is now about to happen and many late-night talks shows may be in big trouble.  The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as well as The Colbert Report, both key shows on Comedy Central, will likely have to show re-runs until new material can be written.

The same will likely happen for NBC on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

An employee at NBC stated that "NBC late-night shows likely would have to resort to repeats with no writing staff to generate new material."

The CBS Late Show with David Letterman, as well as NBC's Saturday Night Live could also suffer the same fate.

Movie studios have been stockpiling many scripts in case a strike did occur.  Still though many reality shows, TV productions, and others will likely take a hit and fall back on schedule.
