Hollywood (eCanadaNow) - One of the biggest Hollywood stars of all times, Charlton Heston, passed away at the age of 84 over the weekend.  

He was the star attraction in many historic and controversial roles, such as Moses in The Ten Commandments as well as Ben-Hur.

He died on Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills, he was 84-years old.

Back in 2002 it was revealed that Heston was suffering from Alzheimer's disease, though his actual cause of death was not revealed.

He was also deeply involved in politics, as he was the president of the NRA.  He is believed to be one of the major reason as to why George Bush became president in the year 2000, as he was a major critic of Democrats and how they handled gun control.

He also took up many other issues including violence in entertainment, as well as marching for civil rights.

He also was the former head of the Screen Actors Guild.
