Washington (eCanadaNow) - Speed Racer is poised to try and take the top spot from Iron Man at the box office this weekend.

Iron Man opened up to a huge weekend one week ago, taking in over $100 million in sales at the box office.

This weekend will bring competition though as Speed Racer is set to hit the big screen.

The film is being geared towards a younger crowd, and stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, and John Goodman.

The anticipation is that Speed Racer will manage around $50 million this weekend, coming just behind Iron Man.

Anything can happen though, we will have to wait and see how it all plays out.
