Victoria (eCanadaNow) - The government of British Columbia takes the budget seriously, and is looking to stress the need for an environmentally friendly budget for the next year.
The Minister of Finance, Carole Taylor has indicated that she will be taking a long hard look at efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions. The Finance minister has indicated that she is willing to spend tax dollars if necessary to bring the amount of greenhouse gases being emitted down to a lower level in British Columbia.
Minister Taylor will not go into the details or a specific budget but she has said that overall greenhouse gases must be cut and it is her intent to lay out the process to do so. She feels that B.C. should cut its output of greenhouse gasses by as much as a third before the year 2020.
The members of government and staffers have looked carefully and discovered the huge impact that many greenhouse gases have on the environment. Much of this is not a surprise, but the lack of reduction concerns both the government and the Minister of Finance greatly.
The new proposed budget promises to have information and background for citizens to help them to cut back on their carbon footprint. Despite the slowdown in the economy, a way to make all the greenhouse gases less is being actively sought. “This information is not a surprise to anyone, we are all very much aware of the overall effects it has had,” said Minister Taylor.
