Ontario (ECN) - Whole Foods Markets has come out and announced a recall of fresh ground beef due to E. coli in both the United States and Canada.
Whole Foods Markets is the grocery chain based out of Austin, Texas, with grocery stores in both Canada and the U.S. The belief is that their fresh ground beef, which came from Coleman Natural Beef, is tained with E. coli bacteria.
The recall includes fresh ground beef sold between June 2 and August 6th.
The company is urging customers to get rid of the fresh ground beef if they still have it in their homes, and is offering customers a refund by bringing in the packaging or a receipt.
Illnesses have already been reported in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
The recall has expanded to states including Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, Washington D.C., Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraksa, Missouri, Wisconsin.
Also included in the recall is Canada.
