Boston (eCanadaNow) - A new report released by the Department of Health and Human Services' National Toxicology Program has revealed that the chemical bisphenol A or BPA found in many plastic bottles and food cans, poses serious health risks.
The chemical, BPA, is used in plastic bottles such as water bottles, baby bottles, and food can linings.
It has been found, according to the report, to be a cause of infertility, cancer, and developmental problems in children.
The report stated that BPA, which is a synthetic hormone, can become dangerous when heated, as the chemical can leak out of the bottle.
Babies and children are at the greatest risk as they are most vulnerable to the exposure.
This goes against a report released a year ago by the FDA, which concluded that the levels of BPA exposure from plastics is not enough to cause any harm to young children.
