Boston (eCanadaNow) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Cephalon's new drug, Treanda. Treanda will treat patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a very slowly progressing blood and bone marrow disease.
Cephalon believes that Treanda, wich is an injectable treatment for patients, will be ready to go within the next month.
Patients and physicians will soon be able to prescribe it to patients.
Cephalon bought the rights to Treanda when it bought San Diego-basd Salmedix Inc. in 2005 for $160 million.
Cephalon has also filed a new drug application for Treanda as a treatment for patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
