Washington (eCanadaNow) - The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has offered a $1 million price to any scientist able to create lab-grown meat that could be used commercially.
There are some rules put in place though beyond just creating lab-grown meat.
The scientist has to be able to create the lab-grown meat, and then market the meat by the summer of 2012.
The quantity of the lab-grown meat has to be large enough to be sold in 10 states in the U.S.
A taste test panel must also rule that the lab-grown meat tastes exactly the same as real meat.
This comes as PETA fights to save the lives of over 40 billion animals killed for food each year in the U.S.
