Washington (eCanadaNow) - According to reports, manufacturers are working hard to produce a record number of flu vaccines as they prepare for next season.

There are five major companies in the U.S. who work on making the flu vaccines for the entire nation.  Last year, they made 120 million doses.  This year though things are getting amped up quite a bit as 143 million doses are expected for U.S. market alone next season.

Many adults in the U.S. died of pneumonia and influenza last season due to the fact that the flu vaccine last season was not very effective against many strains.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated last year's vaccine was just 44% effective.

The hope is that next year's flu season will not be as severe.
