Boston (ECN) - Stanford University School of Medicine researchers have revealed that they have used a genetically altered tobacco plant to produce a cancer vaccine.
The cancer vaccine aims to stop a type of cancer known as follicular B-cell lymphoma, which is a chronic form of cancer.
The vaccine created by the plants helps make antibodies to stop the cancer from spreading.
The vaccine has been tested on human subjects, as they managed to successfully fight the cancer.
Results of the study have been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
