Washington (eCanadaNow) - According to a new study, the amount of toxic chemicals in cats and dogs continues to increase, along with the rising rate of cancer in these pets.
The study was carried out by the Environmental Working Group.
They stated that chemicals such as mercury, strain-proof coatings, and more are leading to an increase in cancer as well as hyperthydroidism in cats and dogs.
They contract these toxic chemicals due to them being so close to the floor, licking the floor, etc.
They stated that these hazards are similar for infants and toddlers as well.
For their study, they tested the blood and urine of 20 dogs and 37 cats in Virginia. They found that there were 48 chemicals present in these animals.
The group is pushing for better regulation and for safer products.
