Washington (eCanadaNow) - A new study done in Canada has revealed that obese people who have weight loss surgery cut their risk of cancer.
The study was done by researchers from the Montreal McGill University.
They studies nearly 7,000 patients who all went through weight loss surgery.
What they found after the conclusion of the study was that the surgery helped reduce their risk of developing cancer by 80%.
The reduction was due to the fact that the weight loss surgery helps them remove fat cells, which can contribute to the development of cancer.
The findings were revealed at the annual meeting of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery in Washington D.C.
