Boston (eCanadaNow) - Scientists have long been studying human evolution and they have found that early man went from walking on four legs to two legs simply because it was more efficient.
A new study is suggesting that human ancestors developed the ability to walk on 2 legs instead of 4 because it took a lot less energy. Maybe humans were lazier than we once thought afer all as the study states walking on two legs takes 75% less energy than walking on four.
A team of scientists from Washington University in St. Louis led the study and put a chimp on a treadmill to study how much energy an adult chimp uses compared to a human while walking.
They were able to find out after going through treats for the chimp that it takes 75% more energy to walk on four legs on a treadmill than two for humans. This level of higher efficiency pushed humans to walk on two legs.
