Washington (eCanadaNow) - Scientists have managed to grow a tree from what is believed to be the oldest seed in the world.
Scientists have managed to grow a new sapling from a 2,000-year old palm which was excavated in Masada.
The tree is called the Methuselah Tree, after the oldest person in the Bible.
The plant has been growing for 26 months now and is four-feet tall.
The tree is called a Judean dated tree and is now extinct in Israel, where the seed was found.
The hope is they can revive the plant and use it for medicinal purposes.
The Judean date was valuable for medicine according to scientists.
The seeds were dated back to A.D. 73, around the tiem of the ancient fortress' siege.
