Washington (ECN) - There have been big gains seen in math classes across the United States.
The biggest gains were seen among American fourth and eighth grade students.
They have made big gains in math in recent years according to a new interntional survey. The survey revealed gains in math, but not for Science.
The U.S. is still far behind many countries in Asia in regards to science and math though.
The survey was put out by the Trends in International Mathematics and Science STudy.
The top scorers in Math were fourth-grade students in Hong Kong and eighth-graders in Taiwan.
Singapore was at the top of the science scores according to the survey.
The study is directed by the International Study Center at Boston College.
