The lucky cover model for the 2009 swimsuit issue was revealed as Bar Refaeli. Bar Refaeli is an Israeli model that has been romantically linked to Leonardo Dicaprio. Refaeli is the first Israeli model to be on the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Refaeli can be seen on the cover wearing a Missoni swimsuit.
The Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is expected to be read by 66 million readers and the magazine’s website could receive 350 million hits. The photo shoot for the cover was taken on Canouan Island in the Caribbean.
