New Phone Features Twice Screen Resolution
Waterloo, Ontario (eCanadaNow) - The newest offering from the manufacturers of the Blackberry communications device, the RIM Blackberry Bold 9000 is a major crowd pleaser and will likely be in high demand.
Research in Motion has set the standard in many ways for the business user in the form of its Blackberry communications and email device, but its newest addition to the blackberry line is a giant leap forward for the company.
"The new BlackBerry Bold represents a tremendous step forward in business-grade smartphones and lives up to its name with incredible speed, power and functionality, all wrapped in a beautiful and confident design," said RIM president Mike Lazaridis in a statement.
New sleek lines, more internal memory, new corporate strength Wi-Fi capability and a shimmering glossy sheen complete the sterling components housed within the new product. It is compatable with Bluetooth and Cellular third generation products, and is a large step forward for the RIM firm.
The standard trackball is back, as is the one-letter-per-key accessibility keyboard, and a horizontal screen. The new product was unveiled without a list price, and its maker.
At this point AT&T is the only operator in the United States with comparable broadband style network bandwidth to use the communications device, but other carriers are eyeing the device. Later models of the product may be tweaked to work with Verizon, Nextel, Sprint and other networks.
Here in Canada most major cell phone providers carry Blackberry's including Rogers and BCE.
The new Blackberry Bold 9000 is expected to be available sometime this summer, according to RIM.
AFP reports that as many as 14 million people around the world (including Canada) use a BlackBerry device.
RIM hopes to add another 2.2-milion users by the end of the second quarter.
