
Rogers Communications Announces Support On Their Networks
Toronto (ECN) - In conjunction with the new Apple iPhone being unveiled, Rogers Communications has announced that it will be supporting iPhone access on its communications networks.
The access for iPhones will be available on Rogers High Speed Communications networks and will give iPhone users High Speed Packet Access across locations in Canada.
iPhone 3G users will be able to access services across Canada beginning on July 11th and also experience increased voice cellular quality on the Rogers Communications Network.
"We're excited to be working with Rogers to bring iPhone 3G to Canada," said Tim Cook, Apple's COO. "We can't wait to get this revolutionary phone in the hands of even more people around the world."
Rob Bruce, President of Rogers Communications is saying that Canadian Customers will be pleased with the increased coverage and iPhone support.
“Customers will have amazing mobile features and iPhone support over the fastest Canadian Wireless network with our new service,” said Bruce.
As a rule the support of High Speed Packet Access has only been available in metropolitan and city regions in and across Canada.
With the new announced support, normal cellular phone support will also be increased across the Rogers Network.
Rogers Communications operate a network of cellular towers and communications support from Coast to Coast in Canada, from Halifax to Vancouver, and it covers over 60 percent of the geography across the nation of Canada.
How much will the iPhone cost Canadians?
The 3g iPhone model will sell for $199 for the 8Gb version, while the 16Gb model will sell for $299. Consumers are also required to commit to a three year plan.
The new iPhones are expected to be available July 11th.
