Crime Stoppers Association Expand Communications MethodsMoose Jaw- There are a lot of different methods to communicate, but one that is being brought to the forefront in fighting crime is text messaging.
The Canadian Crime Stoppers Association in Moose Jaw has begun a new program. It allows people to report crime using their text messaging capability on their cell phones. It is a program that is very simple, but one that has not been done before to anyone’s knowledge.
Moose Jaw Constable Jessica Forrester thinks that the program will be a huge advantage. “It gives us an additional method to communicate and receive information,” said Constable Forrester.
There is not any way to trace the message, and because of this the messages are truly anonymous. This method utilizes the fact that especially young people text message between them all the time, and this is just another method of reporting crime and criminal tips.
The text messaging procedure in Moose Jaw was delayed slightly to make sure that the server that the text messages are received on was secure and truly anonymous. After making sure the Crime Stoppers program instituted the new method and it is still being tested.
