Washington (eCanadaNow) - The highly-anticipated next-gen video game Grand Theft Auto IV has been given an official release date from publisher Take-Two Interactive Software for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Take-Two has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV will release on April 29, 2008.

The game was originally supposed to be released in October, but in August Take-Two had to delay the launch of the game due to slow development of the title.

Take-Two stated that more time was needed to polish the game and refine it to the point where it would live up to the high standards of past Grand Theft Auto releases.

They stated that the game will be ready to launch though on April 29th on the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3.
