Microsoft Hit With EU Antitrust Probes

Microsoft is facing a few headaches from the European Union as they have launched two antitrust probes to fully investigate Microsoft and their business practicesLondon (eCanadaNow) - Microsoft is facing a few headaches from the European Union as they have launched two antitrust probes to fully investigate Microsoft and their business practices.

The European Commission put out a statement on Monday that they are currently launching two probes to fully investigate Microsoft.  They stated that they believe that the company possibly violated monopoly laws as well as other laws.  They state that Microsoft did so by making their products inoperable with the products of competitors.

The European Commission stated "The initiation of proceedings does not imply that the Commission has proof of an infringement.  It only signifies that the Commission will further investigate the case as a matter of priority."

Rivals to Microsoft have put out the challenge that Microsoft violated monopoly laws.  These rivals include Red Hat, IBM, Adobe, Sun Microsystems, Oracle and many others.

They are also going to look into whether Microsoft bundling Internet Explorer with Windows should be allowed and if it caused problems for Norwegian browser developer Opera Software.
