"The challenges we face are real." The 44th president gave the traditional inaugural speech just this Tuesday as the rest of America listened. Despite the struggles, despite the challenges, and despite the cost, President Barack Obama pledges to restore the prosperity on U.S. soil and regain the confidence of her people. In light of his promises, his senior staff is heading straight to the White House without the traditional luncheon - instead, they are preparing to fight the economic crises immediately.
Not only has Obama pledged to restore health care, create jobs through repairing the infrastructure, find renewable energy sources, and many other economic stimuli, but to immediately begin removing troops from Iraq and restoring the world's confidence in America's commitment to the rights of individuals. In honor of the troops who have poured their lives into foreign soil, Obama paid tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for others. He also spoke to those who would continue their terrorist attacks - "You cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you".
In the middle of this darkness, Obama says America can be the light for the world, sharing her success and spurring on other countries and economies. He also said that we are "ushering in a new era of responsibility", gone are the days of wasteful government spending, poor efficiency, and failing economies. Instead, our 44th president urged Americans to seize the opportunity to help others, to grow, and to share their success with the world.
