Hollywood (eCanadaNow) - Barbara Walters has admitted that she had an affair with married U.S. Senator Edward Brooke in the 1970s.

She revealed this information on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

She went on Oprah to talk about her memoir "Audition" but ended up talking more about her affair.

The 78-year old Walters admitted for the first time in three decades that she had a multi-year affair with the U.S. senator.

Walters stated that Sen. Brooke was "brilliant."  She admitted to being "infatuated" with the man.

Brooke was elected to the Senate in 1966.  Walters was a co-host of the Today show on NBC when the affair took place.
