Washington (eCanadaNow) - In a political move for his wife Senator Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton has come out and stated that he opposed the war in Iraq right from day one.
Clinton stated that right "from the beginning" he opposed the war in Iraq. Clinton never came out publicly before the war actually began to say whether or not he supported the United States going into Iraq.
He did state though one week before the United States began the war that he would like to give weapons inspectors another chance to avoid an invasion. He did not see it as a necessity to defeat Saddam Hussein.
Advisers of Clinton stated that he did oppose the war but did not come out to say it clearly as it was not in his best interest to go against the president of the United States.
This all comes back to the presidential race as Sen. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton go head to head in key states such as Iowa as the big caucus nears on January 3rd.
Clinton made the statement that he opposed the war from the start in Iowa. Bill Clinton stated "Even though I approved of Afghanistan and opposed Iraq from the beginning, I still resent that I was not asked or given the opportunity to support those soldiers."
This should boost the anti-war image of the Clintons.
