New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has stated that he will attend the 2008 campaign unity talks, taking one step closer to running for president.Boston (eCanadaNow) - New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has stated that he will attend the 2008 campaign unity talks, taking one step closer to running for president.

The idea is that Bloomberg may run as an indepedent as he is currently the ideal candidate to lead the independent White House hopefuls along with Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.

The unity talks are going to take place at the University of Oklahoma on January 7th.

The 65-year-old Bloomberg has already come out and stated that he does not intend to run for president of the United States.  The idea has been floating around though simply because has has billion upon billions of dollars in his fortune, more than enough to make a serious bid as an independent.

The New York Times is also reporting that aides to Bloomberg have been working on a plan to map out the campaign if he were to run.

Former Oklahoma Sen. David Boren stated he is "among those who would urge Mr. Bloomberg to very seriously consider running for president as an independent."
