Seattle (ECN) - Bristol Palin, daughter of the former Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, after having her baby, now is speaking against teen pregnancy. In a recent interview with Greta Van Strussen on Fox News Channel's "On The Record", Palin was quoted as saying "Everyone should wait ten years (from being her age)" and "I hope everyone learns from my story". She also stated that it was much simpler if you were married and financially stable.
Bristol also mentioned that her son, Tripp, has brought much joy to her life. She doesn't regret that she is pregnant but in a way, is wishing she had waited longer. Bristol, 18, was unmarried when she got pregnant in 2008 and her pregnancy became a controversial subject during the 2008 Presidential Election.
How did she respond to her mother's views on strict abstinence? "Well, everybody should be abstinent but it's not realistic at all.". Ms. Palin, however, did not go into details on contraception or other effective methods of birth control.
There was no immediate word on whether Bristol and boyfriend Levi Johnson were going to get married, but she did state that "Eventually we'd like to get married".
She also said that telling her parents she was expecting a child was harder than the actual labor.
Governor Sarah Palin made an appearance during Monday's interview and mentioned that her daughter is "a strong and bold woman, and an amazing mom". She also added to state that her baby was "lucky to have her as a mama".
