New York (ECN) - Jones Beach in Long Island had to be evacuated over the weekend after many unexploded fireworks began popping up on the shore.
The shore began to get filled with firecrackers, among other fireworks.
Lifeguards and others immediately tried to get everyone off of the beach.
Over 2,000 visitors had to be evacuated from the beach, but there were no mishaps.
Some of the fireworks were nearly a foot in length, and appeared after a Friday Fourth of July showing.
The fireworks belonged to a company called Bay Fireworks. The company stated that they usually have a very strict monitoring process, but apparently this is not the case.
Reports state no one picked up any pieces off the beach.
