Boston (eCanadaNow) - A fishing boat called the Alaska Ranger, based out of Seattle, began to sink on Sunday morning 120 miles west of Dutch Harbor in Alaska. Four crew members died when the boat sank.
There is still one crew member missing after the fishing boat went down.
Forty-two crew members managed to abandon the ship and get off safely. The names of the four who died have yet to be released.
Survivors were being sent to Dutch Harbor on the Alaska Warrior.
The Alaska Ranger was a 184-foot ship which began having problems around 3:50 a.m. Sunday. It began to take on water as full rudder control was lost.
The seas had eight-foot waves and 25-knot winds.
Two recue helicopters were sent out to help. The ship is owned by Fishing Company of Alaska Inc. on West Thomas Street in Seattle.
