Boston (eCanadaNow) - Senate Republicans have managed to block a proposal which would tax the oil industry for their immense profits.
The gas prices continue to rise in the U.S., with them going over $4 a gallon across the country.
Senate Democrats have been pushing for the government to tax these major oil companies.
Senators voted whether or not the oil companies needed to be taxed for their profits they will enjoy over the next 10 years.
Majority Leader Herry Reid, a Democrat from Nevada needed 60 votes Tuesday to go forward with the oil tax legislation, but it did not happen.
