Tornadoes Rip Through Southern U.S.

Sunday was a nasty day in terms of weather in the Southern part of the United States, as many tornadoes struck, causing damage to hundreds of homes, and injuring many.Washington (eCanadaNow) - Sunday was a nasty day in terms of weather in the Southern part of the United States, as many tornadoes struck, causing damage to hundreds of homes, and injuring many.

A tornado damaged over 200 homes and businesses in Alabama alone.

Mayor Jim Byard in Alabama stated that authorities are now looking for people under all of the debris.

Nearly 30 people were injured by the tornadoes, as the Midwest was also hit with freezing rain and snow.

All were out to help though as churches were quickly turned into shelters as hospitals filled up quickly as people sought refuge from the horrendous weather.

A 35-bed mobile hospital unit was even set up outside of a Kmart to try and help those with minor injuries.

Fire Marshal Dallis Johnson stated that there were no fatalities as of yet, but two were critically injured.  He stated it is possible there are many more injuries.
