Washington (eCanadaNow) - The leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, has been arrested in the north of Iraq.
This was confirmed by state television reports on Thursday by Major General Abdul Karim Khalaf.
The investigation is ongoing to make sure that they can verify his identity so that they know it is really him.
The arrest came after another man close to him said the Al-Qaeda chief was in a house in the Wad al-Hajar area.
The police raided the area, and captured the man.
He stated "I am Abu Hamza al-Muhajir.
