Washington (eCanadaNow) - An emergency evacuation was ordered on Tuesday when Chile's Chaiten volcano began to shoot out lava.

Last Friday, the volcano erupted sending ash into the sky, but not much lava flow.

Navy warships were sent out to try and evacuate any nearby residents in the Chile region of Patagonia.

The 3,280-foot volacno has been silent for thousands of years, but not anymore.

There has yet to be any lava flow detected down the sides of the mountain, but it has been shooting out some.

All remaining civilians and troops in the area have been evacuated.
