Washington (eCanadaNow) - 73-year old Josef Fritzl, who held his daughter captive in a dungeon in Austria for 24 years, has come out and stated that he is no monster.

Local newspapers have published parts of Josef Fritzl's interviews with police.

The 73-year old stated he is "no monster."  He stated he saved the life of his daughter.

"I could have killed them all," he said, "Then there would have been no trace.  No-one would have found me out."

He was discovered when 19-year old Kerstin, who his daughter gave birth to following their incestuous relationship, had to be rushed to the hospital for multiple organ failure.

It was the first time she was ever let out of the dungeon.

He stated "It was me who made sure she was taken to hospital."

He is trying to defend himself, but the verdict may already be out.
