Washington (eCanadaNow) - The United States has stated on Wednesday that al-Qaida has managed to grow almost as strong as the terrorist group was prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The annual report on global terrorism was released on Wednesday, showing that al-Qaida is growing stronger by the day.

Al-Qaida, according to the report, has managed to get back a great deal of its operational capabilities in Pakistan's remote tribal border areas.

These areas are on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The report stated that al-Qaida continues to try and gain weapons of mass destruction and is the single greatest threat to the United States and its allies.

The Taliban were also said to be a huge threat in Afghanistan still, thanks to support from groups outside the country such as al-Qaida.
