The event that killed the dinosaurs is still being hotly debated by scientists.
A panel of 41 scientists have reviewed 20 years of research and come to the conclusion that an asteroid was responsible for dinosaurs becoming extinct. This event is said to have occurred 65 million years ago and killed most of the species. The controversy has been raging for a long time, whether an asteroid or volcanic activity killed the dinosaurs.
The scientists claimed the asteroid crashed into an area in Mexico. The asteroid was said to be 9 miles in width. This asteroid was a billion times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, contributing to the surrender of the Japanese and the conclusion of World War II.
When the asteroid collided with the earth, it sent tons of debris into the atmosphere. A collision of this magnitude is certainly capable of producing such a result. The planet was then shrouded in darkness. The impact is also said to have produced landslides, tsunamis, earthquakes and huge fires that was too much destruction for the dinosaurs to overcome. This caused the so-called “global winter” that is also the prediction of scientists, should a nuclear holocaust erupt on earth, due to stupidity on the part of world leaders.
