French satellite Finds New Exoplanet

According to reports, a satellite owned by the French space agency may have found a the first exoplanet that is uniquely similar to planets in our own solar system. According to the reports, the planet, which has been named CoRot 9B, is about the size of Jupiter and has a planetary orbit similar to that of Mercury.

Since the planet is a gas giant, like Jupiter and other planets in our system, it is still very encouraging to those in the space industry. Experts believe that the discovery of this new exoplanet proves that other solar systems in the universe were made in similar fashion to ours. This means that it is even more likely that there are planets in the universe which could breed intelligent life forms.

The planet, which is almost 1,500 light years away from Earth, has a much more temperate atmosphere than those gas giants found in our solar system. So far over 400 exoplanets have been found outside of our solar system. Before the discovery of this planet, all of the exoplanets found were either too hot, too cold, or had orbits that moved too wildly. The surface temperature on the newest exoplanet ranges from 20 to 160 degrees Celsius.
