Graco Children’s Products of Atlanta High Chair Recall

While product recalls seem to be very common nowadays, the most recent product recall should be very concerning for parents of young children.

On Thursday, The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Graco Children’s Products of Atlanta was voluntarily recalling some of their high chairs. In total, the recall will affect over 1.2 million chairs.

The recall, which was put in place because of stability issues, will affect 65 different models of Graco’s Harmony High Chairs. The chairs, which are no longer produced by the manufacturer, would have been manufactured and sold between November 2003 and December 2009. The recall came after the manufactured received 464 reports of loose screws and falling brackets. The malfunction would then cause the high chair to tip over if the user moved in the wrong direction. Because of the malfunction, 24 separate injuries were reported. The injuries ranged from bumps and bruises to hairline fractures.

The Graco high chairs originally sold for up to $120 and could have been found in a variety of department stores. The largest sellers of the recalled high chairs were Babies R Us, Sears, Target, and Wal-Mart.

The commission recommends stopping use of the chair immediately. Purchasers can contact Graco to receive a free repair kit.
