“Spamford” Ordered To Pay Facebook $711 Million

Stanford “Spamford” Wallace has been ordered to pay Facebook  $711 million US in damages for spreading spam messages on the social networking site.

“This is another important victory in our fight against spam. We will continue to pursue other spammers, “said the social network Thursday in a press release.

The social networking site filed a complaint against Wallace in February for failing to comply with anti-spam American (Can-Spam Act). Facebook accused Wallace of unauthorized access to accounts of its members and sending masive amounts of unsolicited commercial messages to users. The network has been successful.

“The record shows that Wallace deliberately violated the law with utter disregard for the rights of Facebook and thousands of system users whose accounts have been compromised by its behavior,” said Judge Jeremy Fogel of the Northern District of California . In addition to damages payable to the complainant, Wallace was denied access to social networking.

After his misadventures against MySpace in spring 2008, it is another defeat for justice in Sanford Wallace. At the head of Cyber Promotions, the man stood in the late 1990s as the ‘King of spam’.

Will The 2000s mark does the end of “Spamford’s” reign?
