Last week a man was suspended from his job and arrested after he created a message and posted it on Twitter that said he planned on blowing up the airport.
When the Robin Hood airport in Doncaster became snow-clogged and attempted to ruin Paul Chambers’ flight to Ireland, he chose to release his frustration by posting a message on the very popular networking website. He posted that the airport was closed and everyone had one week or so to get their act together or he going to be blowing it up. One week after this message was posted, the police were tipped off and arrested Chambers. The 26-year-old Chambers was questioned by police officers for seven hours who were not able to see his message as a joke. He has been released on bail until February 11. At that time we will be told if he is charged with secretly planning on creating a bomb hoax.
Chambers has been suspended from his job while waiting the internal investigation and also banned for life from the airport. His laptop, iPhone and home computer have all been confiscated. The Police states that they take the misuse of sites like Twitter very seriously and will follow through and take actions against anything that causes distress or alarm to the public. They believe inappropriate use could very well lead to unnecessary concern and comments reported to police.

Man arrested over Twitter airport joke

they should get rid of them sites and they would not have all this crap going on grow up pepole
Umm, you are aware that you are currently using one of “them sites” to voice your opinion on the matter, now, aren’t you?
yeah just get rid of the entire multi-million dollar social networking industry because some idiot said something stupid or you don’t like the message. if i don’t like something, it shouldn’t exist!
your comment is dripping with old-man Luddism, Tom.
When will people be responsible for their actions and their words?
Good Lord. If they arrested this man, they’ll have to arrest everyone who has ever posted anything threatening. Britain has gone mad. Why don’t the police stop looking at twitter and go and sort out knife crime or gun crime or just any sort of crime? Oh yeah, thats right. They can’t because they’ve forgotton their training coz they’re too busy arresting people for minor crimes. Or even taking real bomb threats seriously? Get a life!! I’m so ashamed to be British.
GOShhhh
wow the piss heads are dumb
