It appears that the number one selling mobile phone for professionals and the number one professional social networking site are finally come together. Linkedin, which is a very popular social and professional networking website, has finally made their first mobile application available for Research in Motion’s Blackberry. The marriage between the website and the phone seems to come quite late considering the Blackberry’s main competition, the Apple iPhone, had a Linkedin application nearly 18 months ago.
While the application may seem to have come out much later than it should have, it appears that Linkedin and Research in Motion were working together to ensure that the integration of the application would go as smooth as possible. Some of the key features that are available on the Blackberry’s Linkedin application are access to email, contact information, and a calendar. Other features include the ability to search for current contacts, new contacts, and to message contacts.
The new application is for now only available on the BlackBerry Tourn, BlackBerrry Bold, and the Black Berry Curve. The application can run on any operating system that is BlackBerry OS 4.3 or newer. To take advantage of the new Linkedin Application, the Blackberry user must have a BlackBerry with an operating system of 4.6 or later.
